Enjoy eleven days in Italy from Rome to Venice. Begin your vacation in Rome with a welcome dinner at a local restaurant, attend the weekly Papal Audience (subject to availability) and enjoy guided visits to St. Paul outside the Walls, the Catacombs, St. John Lateran Basilica, the Holy Stairs, St. Mary Major Basilica, the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel, St. Peter’s Square and Basilica, the Colosseum and the Roman Forum. Enter Umbria and stop in Cascia to visit the Major Basilica, the chapel that houses the tomb of St. Rita, and the Minor Basilica, home of the Eucharistic Miracle. Arrive in Assisi, where guided visits to the Basilicas of St. Francis and St. Clare are included. Also included are visits to St. Mary of the Angels Basilica, and the Porziuncola, where St. Francis founded the Franciscan Order of Friars Minor in 1209, as well as the Carceri Hermitage and the Monastery of St. Damian. An optional excursion to magnificent Spello is available. Continue to Tuscany and stop in Siena to attend Mass in the Basilica of St. Dominic. Then, visit the basilica as well as the Sanctuary of St. Catherine with a local expert, followed by a walk through the ancient narrow lanes of Siena to Piazza del Campo, theater of the biannual Palio, before continuing to Florence. Here, guided sightseeing includes a visit to Santa Maria Novella Basilica, Signoria Square, and the Santa Croce Basilica with Michelangelo’s tomb. Next is Pavia, where a guided visit of the Carthusian Certosa Monastery is included. Arrive in Milan where your guided walking tour features a special visit to the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie to see Leonardo da Vinci’s world-famous The Last Supper (subject to availability). Stop in Padua to visit the Basilica of St. Anthony before arriving in Venice. Enter by private boat to meet your Local Guide; visit St. Mark’s Square and Basilica, lavish Doges’ Palace and the Bridge of Sighs. Enjoy a glassblower’s demonstration and in the evening, a farewell dinner with your traveling companions.
